Gabbedy Milson Lee
Partner & Family Lawyer
Sarah is a fun loving, effervescent, family orientated woman. Hailing from Barraba (north of Tamworth), this former “Miss Barraba Junior Showgirl” can muster sheep; a skill that comes in handy when needing to muster her three teenage children. She is married to Michael, a Retired Brigadier with the Australian Army and is the proud owner of a Jack Russell, “Alice”. Having travelled the length of Australia and overseas with the Army, Sarah is now enjoying a more settled existence in Canberra allowing her to plant fruit trees, grow veges and run chooks (the garden not having a woolshed, made running sheep impracticable).
Sarah completed her Bachelor of Laws at QUT in 1991 and received a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Technology Sydney in 1993. Sarah has specialised in all aspects of Family Law since 1995. Sarah initially joined Nigel in 2001.
Sarah’s primary aim is to assist her clients to achieve a negotiated outcome knowing the benefits in doing so will ensure a less stressful and cheaper result for her clients, but most importantly a better result for their children long term. Her country background makes Sarah a straight shooter with a strong ethical code. Sarah is pragmatic and fair in her approach to family law and will do her very best to keep her matters focussed on achieving a sensible and good outcome, keeping hurt and upset to a minimum. She strives hard to get to the essence of a problem efficiently and is strongly aware of how a family law matter plays out will impact on the family long term. Sarah does her best to ensure positive relationships can be maintained where possible, especially when children are involved.
Sarah is enthusiastic (and somewhat exuberant) when it comes to singing and dancing (said with a resigned sigh by the long-suffering members of GML), art, travel, her friends and family. Sarah’s clients benefit from her warm and caring nature, her tremendous sense of humour and enormous capacity for empathy, and although noisy, we love having her.
